IT’S ARUM D0 BUT JOSHUA FACES FINISH

- BY MATT PENN

KINGMAKER Bob Arum reckons Anthony Joshua could be all washed up before a mega-fight with his man Tyson Fury can be arranged.

Joshua (below) won back the WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles he lost to Andy Ruiz in the summer with a dominant points victory in the rematch earlier this month.

Fury (above with Arum) fights in a rematch of his own on February 22, when he takes on WBC title-holder Deontay Wilder at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Fury and Wilder fought to a controversial split decision draw in their first clash a year ago.

Joshua, who will likely take on IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, has long been touted to do battle with fellow heavyweight stalwarts Wilder and Fury.

But legendary promoter Arum has warned that his Bulgarian fighter Pulev will upset the odds in the spring – possibly sending

Joshua into retirement. He said: “I’m going to make a big prediction here. There will be no more Joshua.

“Everybody is overlooking that Bulgarian, who has been training his a**e off in my gym. Let me tell you he’s not coming in fat like Ruiz. He’s going to pressure Joshua, and he can knock Joshua out.”

Fury’s UK promoter Frank Warren claimed Joshua would be better off not fighting until he can get his hands on the Gypsy King or Wilder, likely in 2021.

He said: “If I was Anthony Joshua, I wouldn’t fight again until we know the winner of Wilder-Fury... and then make the fight.

“I’d let them strip me of my titles and not fight anybody until the big one because that’s what the public want.

“They want to know who is the No.1.”

Warren also reiterated Arum’s warning about Pulev. He added: “Everybody knows. And it showed 100 per cent in New York against Ruiz, if Joshua gets clipped on the chin, he’ll go.”
