ANCELOTTI: THERE IS NO UNREST AT TACTICS
CARLO ANCELOTTI denies claims of unrest in the Everton dressing room.
After the abject FA Cup defeat at Liverpool last week, the new Blues boss (above) revealed he was ready to deliver some home truths to his side.
That prompted suggestions some players are unhappy with the Italian’s decision to play a pragmatic long-ball style, making use of keeper Jordan Pickford’s delivery and the aerial ability of Dominic CalvertLewin (right).
But Ancelotti said: “There was absolutely no argument on the training ground or in the dressing room. No, absolutely not, there was no criticism from the players.
“They listened, they agreed on the mistake that we could not play a good game at Anfield.
“I like to analyse the performance during the week and we all were not happy – they were disappointed we were not able to play a good game, but there was no argument, no discussion.”
Ancelotti expects his side to bounce back against Brighton today and he insisted there have been positive signs in training.
But Everton have been inconsistent this season, with the new boss experiencing two wins followed by two defeats.
He rejects bringing in a psychologist – arguing he can do the job himself.
“A manager now has to be a psychologist – I have experience for this,” he added. “I’ve a good relationship with the players in this aspect, so I don’t have problems.
“After the difficulties, they move on against Chelsea and Manchester United – the last two games they were a little bit relaxed, this is normal, but it is one aspect we can improve on.”
Ancelotti wants a midfielder in the transfer window, but admitted getting the right player is difficult in January.
“We have an agreement on the players we’d like,” he said.
“The scouts, the work the club is doing to recruit a player is fantastic – they know everything.
“We will see if there is an opportunity because the January market is a little strange, as most players are not available.”
