WE’RE TIP-TASTIC!
In association with
PETITE POWER can prove that small is beautiful in the McCoy Contractors Civil Engineering Classic Handicap Chase (3.30, ITV4) at Warwick today.
The Fergal O’Brien (below) trainee is in the form of his life at the age of 11 – and is at his best when stamina is at a premium.
The son of Subtle Power was off course for
516 days between May 2018 and the end of October last year.
But, making his return to action in a handicap chase at Cheltenham’s Showcase fixture, Petite Power made light of the absence with a cosy win. That victory marked the start of a blossoming relationship with amateur rider Liam Harrison, and the 7lb claimer was once again on board when Petite Power followed up at Uttoxeter in mid-November. Last time out, my selection and Harrison took in a handicap chase over an extended three and three-quarter miles at Exeter and narrowly missed out on a hattrick, keeping on stoutly to finish a neck second to the Emma Lavelle-saddled Belle Empress.
He has a 6lb rise in the weights, but Petite Power is lightly raced for a horse of his years and this test looks tailor-made.
