POLICE and Crime Commission­ers across England and Wales can today bid for their share of 10,000 Tasers the Home Office has vowed to fund.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said: “Police officers put themselves in harm’s way to protect us and I am committed to giving them the tools to keep themselves and the public safe.

“The rise in assaults on officers is appalling, which is why I am providing funding to equip up to 10,000 more officers with Taser, an important tactical option.”

Forces will outline how many officers they plan to train to use the stun guns based on risk in their area.

It covers 2020/21 and is to be allocated in February.

Or I think I just always have to try and prove myself a little bit more.” She said of councillor Claire: “She’s who I’m going to be when I grow up.” She also revealed “the door is always open” to return to her job after the ITV show ends. “My manager was like: ‘No funny business,’” she laughed.
