N’jie to star in BBC’s Bloodlands

SHAMED Emmerdale actor Asan N’jie has landed his first role since being axed from the soap for threatenin­g to “knife” Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at an awards ceremony.

N’jie will appear in BBC1 crime thriller Bloodlands, which is spearheade­d by Line of Duty writer Jed Mercurio.

Confirming his new role, the 25-yearold said he is “really looking forward to the next project” and will be “working with some amazing actors”.

They include Cold Feet star James Nesbitt, who plays a Northern Irish detective hunting an assassin. James, 54, has described the upcoming series as “exciting and psychologi­cally complex”.

N’jie was sacked from ITV’s Emmerdale four months ago after the Mirror revealed shocking video footage of him shouting at Kym Marsh’s ex-husband Jamie:

“I’m going to f**king kill you. I’m going to f**king knife you.”

It was recorded at the TV Choice Awards in September, where N’jie was nominated in the Best Newcomer category for a storyline in

After the incident, in which he swore and threw punches at Jamie, N’jie was removed from the event and then fired from the show the next day. He apologised, saying: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptab­le and very much out of character. I am devastated, accept full responsibi­lity and am determined to learn from this.”
