Maguire was a doubt after suffering a muscle injury which forced him to miss the City defeat, but made a swift recovery to captain United.

“I had a problem but it was only a small muscle and I normally recover quick and can play with a bit of pain,” said Maguire. “I got through the game unscathed, so now I feel good and am ready to go again.

“Our problem has been inconsistency. If we put a few wins together, we’ll have every chance of the top four.”

NORWICH boss Daniel Farke admitted it will be a “miracle” if his side can avoid the drop.

The Canaries are bottom of the Premier League, eight points from safety, with 16 games left.

Farke’s side have won just one of their last 17 league games and he admitted they are staring down the barrel.

“We knew, as the only promoted side that hardly spent any money, to be competitive with our injury curse in the first half of the season, it would be a miracle if we stayed in this league,” said Farke.

“If I could guarantee that we could stay in this league, it would be a miracle. That’s for sure, so I’m quite realistic.

“One thing is for sure, we’ll fight for the honour and we won’t give up. We will work our socks off to make this miracle happen.

“We know we need to come as close as possible to 40 points and then we have a chance. If not, we won’t have a chance.”

Norwich keeper Tim Krul, who gave away a penalty in the defeat, said: “It’s about cool heads, no finger-pointing, because there’s no point.

“We need to stick together now. I think that’s the biggest thing. We just need that one win for people to get the real belief.”
