AWAY-DAY WOES NEED POTTER’S MAGIC TOUCH

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

BRIGHTON boss Graham Potter says his team must answer the “million dollar question” to ensure their Premier League survival.

The south-coast club have won just two games away from home all season, and that is a key reason why they continue to flirt with the drop.

And after a defeat at Everton, where they only came into the game in the last 25 minutes, Potter says the players must quickly transform their away-day blues.

“That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?” he said when asked how the Seagulls could improve their form on the road. “That’s where our work is. Our level has to be better than it was here, and I have to work out how I can help the players.

“It’s not just a case of saying the players weren’t good enough. Tactically, you can always do something better, and set things up in a better way. We’ll analyse the game and try to find a way.

“We huffed and puffed, and gave a lot of effort and, with a bit of luck, could have nicked something. But our performance level over the course of the game was not quite where we want it to be.”

Brighton had some fine chances in the final third of the game, with Leandro Trossard hitting the bar and sub Glenn Murray denied by Jordan Pickford and then steering wide.

For Potter (above) and his team, it is still a learning process, but one they must quickly get to grips with.

“You’re always learning,” he added. “Every day, you want to learn and improve, and it’s the same for the players, I’m hoping.”
