HODGSON: WE’RE THE EAGLES NOT THE EGOS

- BY DARREN LEWIS

ROY HODGSON insists his Crystal Palace side keep upsetting the odds because there are no egos in his squad.

The Eagles came back from a goal down with Jordan Ayew’s deflected effort earning a point (Ayew celebrates with team-mates, left).

So far this term Palace have beaten Manchester United, drawn home and away with Arsenal, and held Everton and Wolves. And the Eagles boss said: “You need to know the type of player that will suit your style and help you.

“Take the guys that have come in since I have been here – Vicente Guaita the goalkeeper, Cheikhou Kouyate, James McArthur, Jordan Ayew and Gary Cahill.

“They all fit the profile of players prepared to knuckle down and work for the team and not seek personal glory. Jordan Ayew is a testament to what we have tried to do with our limited resources to get the right people.”
