Shocked at Fox’s views

-

■ So, actor Laurence Fox was not aware colonial troops fought in the First World War (Mirror, Jan 24). I suggest he takes himself to Ypres, Belgium, and studies the Menin Gate and the large number of Indian names inscribed on it. Then he should go to a French war cemetery and see the mix of French and Islamic headstones side by side. There’s a cemetery not far from Dunkirk at Zuydcoote with Belgian, British, French, French colonial and German soldiers’ graves. Look and learn, Mr Fox, and never forget. David Wathen, Leicester

■ Recently my wife and I watched an episode of US hospital drama New Amsterdam. The story revolved around a young couple who couldn’t afford the drugs necessary to keep their son alive as insurance didn’t cover the cost. This could be us in a few years if Mr Johnson goes cap in hand to Mr Trump for a trade deal. I hope those Labour supporters who lent the Tories their votes realise what’s coming. John Kernaghan, Hawick, Scottish Borders

■ I was appalled to read there have been at least 15 serious crashes involving US personnel near military bases on British soil (Mirror, Jan 22). I hope Harry Dunn’s parents won’t give up their fight for US diplomat’s wife Anne Sacoolas to be brought back here to face the charge of causing his death by dangerous driving. I’m sure if Anne had a child who’d been killed the same way she’d expect the person involved to face a proper investigation. D Richens, South East London
