Car designer Don, 94, given moving surprise by MG club
THE designer of the iconic two-door MGB had a surprise visit from a fleet of them – at his care home.
Don Hayter, 94, who worked for MG cars for more than 40 years, sketched the original concept of the legendary sports car.
It became an iconic British vehicle and featured in the 1974
James Bond film The
Man With The Golden
Gun. Don was the chief design and development engineer leading the team that created the MGB in 1963.
He was stunned when bosses at Millers Grange home in Witney, Oxon arranged a visit from the MG Car Club.
He told them stories about his time at MG.
Steve Reader, home manager, said: “It was a pleasure to see Don revisit one of his biggest career milestones.”
