Miss England hopeful ‘had glass in face’
FACE WOUND Olivia Cooke
A WOMAN smashed a wine glass into a Miss England finalist’s face, a court heard.
Pro golfer Olivia Cooke was left with glass stuck in her forehead and needed stitches after being struck twice, Maidstone crown court was told.
The 21-year-old, from Barming, Kent, told jurors China Gold grabbed her throat before attacking her at The Farm House pub in West Malling, Kent.
Gold, 27, of Ditton in Kent, denies unlawful wounding and says Cooke started the violence by throwing a glass at her.
Defence barrister Robin Griffiths claimed Gold simply threw a glass back. The trial continues. Cooke and her mother Julie face assault charges in separate proceedings.
CLAIM MADE IN MAGAZINE EMAIL TO MOGUL’S TEAM
Jennifer, Weinstein and his then-partner Georgina after premiere
Jennifer, 51, said last year that Weinstein visited her in London when she was shooting the film and that he was extremely rude to a friend of hers.
She added he tried to force her to wear a dress from Marchesa – the fashion brand founded by his then-wife Georgina Chapman, 43 – at the premiere.
Jennifer said: “He was like, ‘You have to wear the dress’. That was my only bullying. I was like, ‘No, I will not wear the dress’.”
The newly released documents also show that Weinstein’s brother Bob, 65, sent him an email in 2017 saying: “I pray there is a real hell. That’s where u belong.”
Bob, who co-founded film company Miramax with Weinstein, added: “U deserve a lifetime achievement award for... savagery... for the acts u have perpetrated.”
The documents also revealed how Weinstein said that year that he was suicidal.
Weinstein, 67, was last month found guilty in New York of third-degree rape and a first-degree criminal sex act.
The American’s legal team has pleaded with a judge to sentence him to the mandatory minimum of five years in jail.
They claim anything longer would essentially be “a life sentence”. He faces a term of up to 29 years.
Weinstein has been moved to notorious Rikers Island prison after nearly two weeks in hospital where he had a heart procedure after the guilty verdict. Inmates at the jail may have to dig graves for coronavirus victims, it has emerged.
