Mbappe waits on virus test

THE world figure skating championships in Montreal next week will be off limits to anyone with a high temperature.

A coronavirus information pack sent by the sport’s governing body to skaters, coaches, officials and media, imposed a limit of 38 deg C. Those showing signs of acute respiratory symptoms will also be denied entry and put into isolation.

FRANCE superstar Kylian Mbappe has been tested for coronavirus ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s crunch Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The striker, 21, has missed two days’ training with a throat infection, and has taken a test to see if he is positive, according to reports in his homeland.

Mbappe is still waiting for the test results, but the early indications suggest he does not have the virus.

Instead, according to PSG boss Thomas Tuchel, the World Cup winner is suffering from angina.

“He was sick yesterday and he is sick today with angina and we are trying to maybe have a light practice with him this evening,” said German coach Tuchel.

Angina can reduce the flow of blood to the heart, but Tuchel hopes Mbappe is in his team for tonight’s must-win Champions League last-16 clash with Dortmund, who they trail 2-1 from the first leg.

“Kylian did not practice with us the last two days,” he added. “We must wait and decide tomorrow whether he will play.”

PSG’s task of winning the tie has been made harder after it was confirmed that the match at the Parc des Princes will be played behind closed doors.

The decision was made by Paris police on Monday to help contain the spread of coronavirus.

The French side responded to the news by confirming that the club is “fully mobilised” to ensure the match goes ahead in the “best possible conditions”.
