ANXIOUS Carrie Symonds was given a boost yesterday as the Queen sent her a message of support ahead of Boris Johnson’s second night in intensive care.

The monarch, who addressed the nation on Sunday, told Ms Symonds and members of the PM’s family they were in her thoughts.

And Buckingham Palace said she wished Mr Johnson a “full and speedy” recovery.

The Queen is being kept “constantly updated” on his condition, a royal source confirmed.

While the country is focused on Mr Johnson’s health, for pregnant fiancee Ms Symonds, 32, it is agonisingly personal.

She is expecting the couple’s first baby in early summer and was unable to be at Mr Johnson’s side, even before he was admitted to hospital on Sunday.

Ms Symonds has been self-isolating at their home in South London after suffering Covid-19 symptoms.

The day before the PM announced his own diagnosis, she shared a photo of herself with their rescue dog Dilyn. Then on Saturday Ms Symonds confirmed she had been suffering from coronavirus at the same time as the PM, adding she was now “on the mend”. She said: “I’ve spent the past week in bed with the main symptoms of coronavirus. I haven’t needed to be tested and, after seven days of rest, I feel stronger.”

But a day later the PM was admitted to hospital, further delaying their reunion. Mr Johnson’s biographer, Sonia Purnell, said: “This is a horrible, horrible situation – you can’t even accompany your loved one in hospital. “I can only imagine the agony of Carrie, who as we know is due to give birth in the early summer. “This is a nightmare all round and a nightmare for the whole country.” Mr Johnson was married to ex-wife Marina Wheeler for 25 years until he began his relationship Ms Symonds. A family friend said Ms Wheeler, with whom the PM has four grown-up
