There is always hope

Dear Readers

FIRSTLY, happy Easter to you all.

It’s going to be a very different Easter this year.

The traditions of family get-togethers and raucous egg hunts have had to be put on hold as we all do our bit to fight this virus by staying at home.

Many of us will face this weekend worried about elderly or vulnerable relatives isolating on their own.

Some will have family working long, gruelling shifts in our NHS, as carers or in other front-line services.

And some will be mourning loved ones taken from them by the awful coronaviru­s.

At the Mirror our thoughts are with you all.

This is a truly dark time in our nation’s history.

But Easter has a message for us all, whatever our religious beliefs. It reminds us that however bad things are, there is always hope.

And the outpouring of neighbourl­iness, compassion, support for local charities and love for our NHS we’ve seen in the past few weeks is certainly evidence of that hope. questions politician­s need to answer and keeping you entertaine­d throughout the lockdown.

And we’ll continue to do that. Next week we’ll be launching a special new series, Paul McKenna’s I Can Keep You Calm During Lockdown, AND we’ll have even more quizzes to keep your mind active. Tomorrow, don’t miss a heart-lifting pullout of Britain’s most beautiful views in your Sunday Mirror.

Remember some larger shops will be closed for Easter Sunday but we’ll still be on sale in smaller stores and corner shops.
