Air filters aid asthma fight
KIDS with asthma may benefit from using daily bedroom air filters to help ease and prevent symptoms, a study suggests.
American and Chinese scientists found that air filters could be an alternative to costly drugs.
They reduce the exposure of fine particles going in to the lower airways.
Dr Junfeng Zhang, of Duke University, North Carolina, said: “People should really consider using one of these devices during wildfires.”

A STAR of Netflix sensation Tiger King has said notorious zoo owner Joe Exotic deserves to die in jail.
The documentary series made some viewers feel sympathy for the 57-yearold, who is serving 22 years for animal abuse and arranging a hit on an animal rights activist.
But Erik Cowie, head zookeeper at the GW zoo in Oklahoma, reckons he got what he deserves.
Asked if he thinks Exotic should be freed, Cowie said: “No. Not no, but f*** no. Twenty-two years – that guy’s gonna die in there. Good riddance. I am pretty sure they don’t have Netflix so he won’t get to see [the show].”
Speaking on spin-off documentary The Tiger Kind And I, Cowie also said he regrets working with the eccentric tiger trader, feeling guilty after being told to put animals down for no good reason.
He said: “I think about it a lot. A lot of times when we put cats down, they used me because I could get a cat up the side of the cage where we can dart it. Those cats trusted me until the end. Sometimes, I swear they’re like, ‘Dude, you let me down’.”
Tiger King has been one of the biggest TV hits during the lockdown with 34 million viewers in its first 10 days of release.
Exotic, real name Joseph Allen MaldonadoPassage, was convicted in 2019 of killing tigers and hiring a hitman to kill Carole Baskin. He was sentenced in January and jailed in Fort Worth, Texas.
