Cruel thieves steal £20 off birthday girl

- BY HAYLEY PARKER

SWEET TOOTH Lacey, eight

KIND police officers probing the theft of an eightyear-old girl’s £20 birthday money made her day when they had a whip round and presented her with £115.

Lacey Tilstone was in a shop with her gran Janet Wright buying treats with the £20 when it was stolen.

She had picked out a magazine and put it on the counter with the £20 note while she chose sweeties.

Mum Emily Wright, 31, said: “Two men came in and when she turned her back they took the money.”

Janet confronted the men, but they denied it.

Police, who have made an arrest, later went to Lacey’s home in Stoke-onTrent to give her £115, a cake, balloons and a card.

Lacey said: “I’m so happy. I’m making the police a card to say thanks.”
