Thorne taken to hospital in cancer battle
STRUGGLE Willie Thorne
CANCER-hit snooker legend Willie Thorne has been rushed to hospital for several blood transfusions.
Thorne, 66, spent the weekend on a ward amid his ongoing battle with leukaemia, which he first revealed in March.
The penniless former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has been having chemotherapy near his home in Alicante, Spain.
Doctors think Thorne will need four transfusions in all, pal Julie O’Neill said.
“They need to get rid of the bad blood, particularly from his leg,” she added.
“He is staying strong and trying to stay positive.”
Gary Lineker, from Willie’s home city of Leicester, recently donated to a fundraiser for the sportsman, who was made bankrupt five years ago.
