Football club scores with lockdown locals

-

Stenhousemuir Football Club is supporting hundreds of local families by delivering school meals to pupils during the coronavirus lockdown.

Since the Scottish football season shut down in mid-March, the Falkirk club have assembled an 80-strong team of volunteers.

On just one day last month, they managed to deliver more than 130 meals to children in the community.

They’re also carrying out tasks such as shopping and dog walking for those struggling in isolation.

Stenhousemuir chairman Iain McMenemy said: “Scottish football faces an uncertain future but there are other, more important matters to think about. The health and wellbeing of friends, neighbours and members of our community should be our top priority.

“We’re still looking for volunteers as we’re only in week seven and the smart money is probably on this being extended for two months.”
