New delay for Prem

- BY DARREN LEWIS

PREMIER LEAGUE chiefs will postpone their shareholders meeting until after the Prime Minister’s speech on Sunday.

Boris Johnson is expected to outline the ways in which he intends to “unlock the various parts of the UK economy”.

He had been expected to speak on Thursday, in time for the Premier League’s latest meeting 24 hours later. Instead, it could now take place next Monday.

The top-flight will take its cue from the Government’s position on whether to press ahead with ‘Project Restart’ to finish the season from next month.

If it goes ahead, games will take place at neutral venues, as the Government has made it clear to clubs it will not approve matches at their home stadia.
