March 23 The UK is placed into lockdown with strict limitation­s on travel. March 26 Boris Johnson tells Cummings he has tested positive for Covid-19. March 27 Cummings leaves Number 10 after his wife falls ill. He later drives 260 miles to his parents’ farm in Durham.

March 28 The PM’s adviser wakes with Covid-19 symptoms.

March 31 Police speak to Cummings’ family who confirm he is self-isolating in part of their farmhouse. April 2 His son is taken to hospital by ambulance after falling ill.

April 3 Cummings drives to the hospital to collect his son after medics say he can go home.

April 5 A neighbour sees Cummings in his parents’ garden.

April 12 Cummings drives with his wife to Barnard Castle where they sit beside River Tees. They later stop in woodland when his son needs the toilet. April 13 Cummings and his family return to London. April 14 He returns to work at Number 10.

April 19 Cummings is allegedly seen walking in woods in Durham. Yesterday he said data on his phone proves he was in London. May 5 Professor Neil Ferguson quits as a Government adviser after he broke lockdown rules with a lover.

May 13 The restrictio­n is lifted on how far people can drive and take exercise but overnight stays in second homes are still banned.

May 23 The Mirror breaks the exclusive story that Cummings flouted lockdown rules.

May 24 The PM backs his aide, saying he acted in the best interests of his child. May 25 As pressure mounts for him to resign, Cummings addresses the press in the Downing Street garden.
