Lack of PPE could keep dentist shut
LACK of PPE means many dentists will remain shut as surgeries begin to open next Monday, leaders warn.
Measures to protect staff and patients for the reopening on June 8 were outlined in guidance published by the Faculty of General Dental Practice.
But Phil Taylor, incoming dental chief at the Royal College of Surgeons, said practitioners needed assurance that PPE will be available by that date.
He added: “If this isn’t forthcoming, they must state this is the case and clarify that many dental practices will not be able to reopen on this date.”
British Dental Association chief Mick Armstrong said last week’s announcement that dentists could open was “a bolt from the blue”, with no time to prepare.
