WE WILL WIN LOTTS WITH CARLO

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

And Pochettino has stipulated that the next club he joins must be able to contend for silverware.

His credentials have always been called into question by some critics, who feel his failure to land any sort of silverware during his five years at Spurs points to the lack of a winning instinct.

Having been runners-up in the Champions League, the Premier League, the League Cup and twice reached the FA Cup semi-final, Pochettino now feels it is vital that he and his coaching staff take a team to the next level.

EVERTON star Richarlison is convinced “smart and demanding” Carlo Ancelotti will deliver glory at Goodison.

The Brazil international has returned to training following a lockdown in his native country, admitting he is impressed by the Italian manager’s open dialogue with his players. And the forward is confident that playing for one of the great coaches will help his individual development and the growth of a young Blues team.

Richarlison (left with Ancelotti) said: “Carlo is a coach who is competitive and very smart and likes to have a team that is also that way – he demands the best from each player.

“I have the honour to say that I am trained by one of the best coaches ever.

“He sees the game like few others and has a mentality that favours attacking and searching for victories.

“I have been trying to learn as much as possible every day we have been together for training or matches. He knows how to chart the path for us to play our best.”

Everton have stepped up their training to be ready for June 20 when they tackle Liverpool at Goodison in what promises to be a mouth-watering derby.

But in the longer term, Richarlison believes Ancelotti will help fast-track a youthful Everton squad towards honours.

He said: “It’s really a great thing to be able to have this open dialogue with our staff and to contribute in some way.”
