... but Eamonn cushions blow to save interview
EAMONN Holmes has told how a major US celebrity refused to sit on the This Morning couch because she was “allergic” to it.
He said there was a stand-off as the guest insisted on doing the interview standing up.
ITV host Eamonn, 60, said: “There was somebody who arrived from America recently.
“At the last minute they stood on the edge of the studio and her people said she
WILY Host Eamonn can’t sit there.” Belfast-born Eamonn said he asked the celebrity: “Right, Miss so-and-so, what are you not allergic to? She said, ‘I’m not allergic to linen’. I said, this is your lucky day.
“That couch is Ulster linen, where I am from. I have had this specially flown in and made because I, like you, have the same allergy to everything.” The star was satisfied and the chat went ahead. Eamonn told the Human Nature podcast: “The researchers were saying, ‘How did you know that
was linen’. I said ‘I’ve no idea what it is’, but it was too late to worry about it. Just tell her it’s linen, she’s happy, she hasn’t come out in a rash.”
