We reported Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards would launch an appeal after Jagger was sentenced to three months and Richards to a year in jail on drugs charges.

35 YEARS AGO (1985) The 39 American hostages from the hijacked TWA Flight 847 were freed in Beirut after being held for 17 days. US Navy diver Robert Stethem was killed.

13 YEARS AGO (2007)

A vehicle filled with propane gas canisters was driven into Glasgow Airport in a terror attack. UK-born doctor Bilal Abdullah of Iraqi descent was sentenced to life.
