Restaurants’ doom means jobs disaster
STRUGGLING
BURGER chain Byron is on the verge of administration, with 1,200 jobs at risk.
Reports say the firm, which had aimed to reopen 51 outlets in midJuly, yesterday filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
The move is designed to give the business breathing space as efforts are made to find a buyer.
A further 3,000 jobs will be affected as all 125 branches of Frankie & Benny’s are to close.
Owner The Restaurant group announced the closures after its creditors voted in favour of a restructuring deal.
The restructure, announced earlier this month, will also affect the group’s Garfunkel’s and Coast-to-Coast chains.
