TEEN HELD FOR PARK MURDER OF SISTERS
Family informed of stab attack arrest
A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of murdering two sisters in a park.
The 18-year-old man is suspected of carrying out the knife attack on Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman.
Det Chief Insp Simon Harding, who is leading the inquiry, said: “Given the significance of this development, we visited the family in person to inform them of the arrest.”
Mum Mina Smallman previously blasted the Met police as “toxic” when it emerged two officers were arrested after photos of her daughters’ bodies were taken at the scene and allegedly shared with members of the public.
The Independent Office of Police Conduct is investigating.
Nicole, 27, and Bibaa spent the evening of June 5 in Fryent Country
Park in Wembley, North West London, in a group celebrating Bibaa’s 46th birthday. The sisters were reported missing the next day.
On June 7, Nicole’s boyfriend went to look for them and found the bodies next to each other in a wooded area of the park near where they had been talking to friends.
Bibaa was a social worker in Buckinghamshire children’s services. Nicole was a photographer. The IOPC is also probing what police did after the pair were reported missing.
The murder weapon, a kitchen knife, was recovered nearby.
An important line of inquiry has been the attacker’s blood which was found at the scene. Police, who liaised with a foreign authority in the probe, say the suspect was arrested at or near his South London home.
