He said: “If I assume they have a similar make up in terms of the basic way we focus on the job in hand, there will be nothing else on their mind when they leave the pit lane.

“On the track you have adrenaline and fear focusing the mind.

“That just doesn’t allow any day dreaming.

“It has always been very interestin­g to me personally because I am someone that struggles to maintain concentrat­ion in everyday life.

“But I never had a problem, despite some of my mistakes, maintainin­g concentrat­ion driving a super-fast F1 car.”
