NISSAN workers protesting outside a car factory in Sunderland for the first time since 1986 is a sign that grafters are fighting back.

Unite leader Steve Turner, above, urged hundreds on the weekend’s rally to keep protesting against “opportunis­tic” pension cuts – that spells trouble for Nissan bosses, accused of exploiting the pandemic to slash jobs, wages and conditions.

A loyal workforce being driven to industrial action for the first time in 34 years could presage a Winter of Discontent.
