TV PRESENTER Jake Humphrey has bankrolled a 20-year-old entrepreneur whose eco firm turns old plastic nets into glasses.

The BT Sport host, 41, was inspired by the “vision” of University of East Anglia student George Bailey, who started his company Coral Eyewear last year.

The duo are promoting a range of specs on website Kickstarter, where they have already received 90% of their funding goal.

Mr Humphrey said: “People are becoming increasingly aware of how small steps in the right direction will help with climate change.”

More than 600,000 tonnes of nets are left in the sea per year and they each harm or kill 30 to 40 animals annually, World Animal Protection says.
