IF you’re on a budget, grabbing a bite at one of these restaurant­s mean you can get even more than 50% knocked off the bill..

■ At Burger King, for the first two weeks of August, customers can buy a Whopper for just £1, rather than the usual £4.49, if they combine the chain’s in-app deal with the Government scheme. The same goes for the Chicken Royale. ■ JD Wetherspoo­n has also signed up to the scheme, and will be selling meals for as little as

£2. The pub chain announced that, under the scheme, breakfasts in its boozers will cost

£2.24, a pizza £2.75, and other meals

£2.37, with kids’ meals costing £2.08.

■ At McDonald’s cheeseburg­ers are

■ Costa has said customers will be able to buy a coffee from just 32p. That is down 68% on a couple of weeks ago. It is also slashing prices of sandwiches, breakfast baps and sweet treats. A vegan smoky ham & cheese toastie is now £1.29, millionair­e’s shortbread 86p, sausage bap £1.29, salted caramel brownie 99p and croissant 59p.

■ At Nando’s you can pick up a quarter of chicken for £1.85. Other deals include quarter peri peri chicken and two sides, £3.38, half peri peri chicken and two sides, £4.90, 10-piece peri peri chicken wing roulette for £4.80, halloumi sticks and dip starter, £1.74, and beanie burger at £2.95.

■ At KFC, feast on a six-piece Bargain Bucket for £7.50, Zinger Tower Box meal for £4.35 or regular popcorn chicken for £2.

■ At Pizza Express, prices for people dining in will be cut in half with a margherita at £5, American hot at £6.50, sloppy Giuseppe at £6.75, and pollo ad astra at £6.75. The chain is also offering anyone eating in on any day in August a free portion of dough balls with each main course.

■ At Wagamama, where Rishi Sunak helped out the waiters while announcing his new discount, yaki soba will now be £4.75, chicken katsu curry £5.13 and chilli squid £3.23.

■ M&S is reopening 102 more of its cafes and joining the scheme. A toasted teacake will be 86p, a bacon bun £1.64, cheese & ham toastie £1.97 and jacket potato with tuna & sweetcorn £2.30.

■ Steakhouse Hawksmoor has launched a £20 rump steak and chips deal, meaning you can tuck in for a tenner Monday to Wednesday. ■ More than 40 Michelin-starred restaurant­s are also taking part, including Jason Atherton’s Social Eating House in London’s Soho, where will be possible to get a Michelin-starred two-course lunch for a bargain £12.
