Samantha Jones, 54, will be hanged if convicted of “murder with intent” after husband John, 63, was fatally stabbed.

But at Malaysia’s High Court today she is bidding to have the charge reduced to manslaughter, meaning she would face 10 to 30 years in jail if found guilty.

It is believed grandfather-of-five Mr Jones died from a stab wound which pierced his liver at his villa on Langkawi.

He was knifed after returning from a day drinking with fellow expats.

His wife ran to their British neighbour for help, but by the time an ambulance arrived, Mr Jones was dead.

Since the incident, Jones has been

A ONE-HANDED cricketer has hung up his whites, after a remarkably long innings, at the age of 86.

Great-grandfather Bill Robinson, who was born with only his left hand, planned to retire at 50 – but his skills meant Yorkshire Terriers teammates would not let him go.

The retired joiner, who started playing during childhood, said: “I just adapted. I worked all my life, I drive… It must be awful to lose a hand and have to learn to do things again. I never knew any different.”

Bill, who lives in Bradford with his wife June, 84, decided to retire when the Covid-19 pandemic wiped out fixtures. But he will treasure the

“special” memory of leading his team out at Lord’s and lately he has bowled out players as young as 14.

“My last game I scored 15 not out though so that’s not a bad way to finish at all,” the spin bowler added.
