FIA BOSS: I HOPE SCHU STAYS NO.1

FORMULA ONE: TODT PLEDGE

-

FIA PRESIDENT Jean Todt says he hopes Michael Schumacher’s remaining Formula One records won’t be broken by Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton (above) limped home to victory on a blown tyre at Silverstone on Sunday for his 87th GP win – just four short of Schumacher’s record of 91. He has already beaten the German (right) into second place for pole positions and this season could equal his seven world titles.

Motorsport chief Todt, who was Schumacher’s boss at Ferrari, said: “To be very sincere, if you have a link to the record, you like the record to stay. Already some of the records have been broken. But it’s admirable and, if it’s well deserved, you can only congratulate them.”

Pirelli, F1’s sole tyre supplier, have launched a probe into why Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz, all suffered from a left-front puncture in the latter stages of Sunday’s race.
