Auba’s not only priority

ARSENAL’S desire to keep PierreEmerick Aubameyang with a £250,000-a-week, three-year deal gets a big thumbs up from me. But the investment cannot stop there, because if Stan Kroenke tells Mikel Arteta that’s the whole budget gone then they might as well chuck the Auba (right) money down the drain. Aubameyang isn’t an island and if Arteta can’t properly strengthen elsewhere then Arsenal simply aren’t going to be competing for a 38-game trophy next season.

And they will end up kidding themselves again that a six-game trophy is a pathway to getting further back on track.
