United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reluctant to spend more than £80million on the 20-year-old due to Covid-19’s impact on the transfer market. He would be willing to spend that up front in order to land Sancho, but Dortmund want closer to £100m. Dortmund will consider £100m in instalments, but with £70m up front, then two more payments of £20m and £10m.

RISING Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has revealed that he will not cut his hair until he scores his first senior goal for the club.

The teenage talent (left) has a fashionable long style which he usually wears in a bun, leaving manager Jurgen Klopp amused and perplexed. But Elliott, 17, admitted that he was preparing to cut it all off at the turn of the year. However, he then decided he needed a bigger goal to go for the big chop.

“Initially, I was going to change it for the new year.

“But then I decided that if I was going to change it, I wanted it to be for something more memorable,” he said. “I’ve promised the lads that when I score my first professional goal, it’s coming off.

“I don’t think the manager is a a big fan.

“Sometimes I’ve come in with it tied up in a bit of a new style and he has just looked at it and then started laughing.”
