‘RUSSIA HACKED FOX EMAILS ON U.S TALKS’
RUSSIAN agents are suspected of hacking former Cabinet minister Liam Fox’s email account to steal top-secret documents on the UK-US trade talks.
The classified papers were leaked on social media site Reddit during last year’s election campaign and highlighted by then Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn as proof the Government was discussing access to the NHS in US trade discussions.
Dr Fox’s email account was reportedly accessed multiple times between July and October. It is unclear whether this occurred when Dr Fox was International Trade Secretary, as he was sacked by Boris Johnson on July 24.
It comes after Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab accused Russian actors of trying to influence the result of the last election by “amplifying” the documents online.
The National Crime Agency said it was leading a probe but added: “We cannot comment as this is a live investigation.”
