Do you agree with the move to overhaul planning laws?

The Government is to unveil its review of England’s planning system which could see homes being built without full planning permission.

Yes. Any way of speeding up housebuild­ing has to be good. Planning department­s need to be reformed for the benefit of ordinary people.

AVERAGEMAN­2 No. Aside from a dip in building standards and the negative impact on the environmen­t, the suppressio­n of so-called red tape is prone to new ways of corruption to secure contracts.

MAXIMEROCH­E Yes. If it’s for urgently needed social housing or for hospitals, it’s a good idea. But if it’s property to be sold off to foriegn investors to rent out for profit, then no.

BAL MITCHELL No. This will lead to even more badly built homes, small, below spec and not environmen­tally friendly.

ARTHUR MARCHANT Yes. People moan there’s not enough housing and moan when the Government allows more to be built.

NAME SUPPLIED No. The next step will be developers claiming they don’t need their work to be inspected or regulated. There’ll be Tory backhander­s all over the land.
