RUSSELL Crowe sent cash to help rebuild a Beirut restaurant closed by last week’s blast, on behalf of late chef Anthony Bourdain.

The explosion on August 4 began at a port warehouse, where 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate was stored unsafely.

The blast killed at least 200, injuring 5,000 and leaving 300,000 homeless.

The actor, right, told fans after

Bourdain donating £4,000 to LeChef: “On behalf of Anthony Bourdain... he would have probably done so if he was still around.” Bourdain, who died in 2018, featured the eaterie on TV shows.

DONALD Trump yesterday announced a deal to “normalise relations” between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The President, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Al Nahyan said in a joint statement they hoped the “historic breakthrough will advance peace in the Middle East”.

Tel Aviv has had no diplomatic relations with Gulf Arab states before.

A statement from the White House called it a joint declaration between Israel, the UAE and US.

It said: “As a result of this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the UAE, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts on expanding ties with other countries in the Muslim world.” Israel announced it would suspend its plans to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank.

Shared concerns over Iran’s regional influence have led to unofficial contacts between them.

Mr Netanyahu tweeted in Hebrew : “Historic day.”

The UAE’s ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, said in a statement it was “a win for diplomacy and the region”.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab called it a “historic step” but said talks with Palestine were the only way to lasting peace.
