Hospital wait times soar

HOSPITAL waiting lists are at an all-time high, figures show.

The number of people waiting longer than 18 weeks for routine hospital treatment in England rose to more than 1.85 million in June.

It topped the 1.8 million logged in August 2007, making it the worst figure since records began.

Targets say 92% of patients needing routine treatment should be seen within 18 weeks but this figure was down to 52% in June.

Other data from NHS England showed urgent cancer referrals fell by a fifth compared to June 2019 and breast cancer referrals were 43% down. Sara Bainbridge, of Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “This could directly impact on

Little corgi Hugo got a lift from his two border collie friends Harley and Henry.

Owner Line Fatland Froystad, a dog trainer based in Norway, said after catching the trio on camera: “We all need to work together to achieve our goals and, at this time with Covid, I think this video is what we need.

“The two border collies were probably hoping he would share some but he didn’t.”
