Neo-Nazi trolls target Jewish mourners’ video call
AN elderly Jewish man mourning the death of his wife on a video call with friends and family was bombarded with abuse by neo-Nazis.
Victor Huglin, 75, who was married to Linda for 43 years, was hosting the call in her honour.
More than 100 friends and family had joined to remember Linda, who passed away last week after a life devoted to family and charity work.
But up to four individuals joined the call using names such as “Anne Frank” and “Adolf Hitler” and sent images of swastikas and anti-Semitic propaganda from 1930s Germany. Liverpool businessman Victor said: “It was particularly insensitive, the world is full of crazy people.
“But we are proud Jewish people and my view is; bring it on, let me meet them face to face.”
Of Linda, he added: “Despite spending the last 19 years of her life in a wheelchair due to a neurological disease, she continued to travel the world, even making it up mountains in Bhutan.
“She was an incredible woman, highly principled, very fun.” Mourner Gwendolin Lamb said: “They were shouting that there was no Holocaust and they showed images of people saluting Hitler. It was horrific.”
One mourner complained to their local police force in Dorset, who passed it to Merseyside Police, where most victims are based.
Merseyside Police said: “Should we receive any complaints on Merseyside the matter would be investigated robustly.”
The neo-Nazis are thought to have accessed the call via a link posted on Facebook.
