PRINCE Harry and Meghan have signed a deal with Netflix to create documentaries and movies experts say could be worth $100million.

Confirming the move, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told of their commitment to family programming “as new parents”.

Projects in the pipeline include a series of nature documentaries and an animated series ce lebrat ing inspiring women.

All will be exclusive to Netflix.

The deal is the first announced by the couple since they stepped down as senior royals, and will give them a new global platform – and source of income.

US public relations guru Ronn Torossian, founder and CEO of 5w Public Relations in New York, told the Mirror: “There’s no question Harry and Meghan are worth more than the Obamas to Netflix. Definitely an eight-figure deal, maybe nine.

“Many millions of reasons why they’ve left the crown. Their deal will be worth probably close to $100 million [£75million] , maybe more.

“There’s also most likely a noncompete, which doesn’t allow them to work with other studios. Seems like a win-win for all parties.” Streaming service Netf lix, which has 193 million subscribers worldwide, declined to comment on how much the deal was worth.

Harry, 35, and Meghan, 39, have founded a yet-to-be-named production company, which will pay them to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

The couple may appear on camera in documentaries, though former Suits star Meghan has previously made it clear she has no plans to return to acting.

The Sussexes said in a statement: “Our lives, both independent of each other and as a couple, have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection.

“Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.

“As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.” Ted Sarandos, co-chief executive officer of Netflix, said: “We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere.”

Last week, Netflix released Rising Phoenix, a documentary about the Paralympic Games which featured an appearance by Harry, who founded the Invictus Games for wounded veterans.

Harry and Meghan have been living in the Los Angeles area since March, staying for a time at a Beverly Hills mansion owned by US actor Tyler Perry.

In July, they bought a $14.7million house in Montecito, about an hour north of Malibu that is also home to Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

They are worth definitely an eightfigure deal, maybe nine
