MAISIE & ME COULD WALTZ AWAY WITH IT

HRVY on top Strictly rival

STRICTLY Come Dancing’s youngest celebrities reckon the contest could be a twohorse race between them.

HRVY Cantwell, 21, said of 19-year-old EastEnders actress Maisie Smith: “She looks very good. Me and her are going to have a little rivalry I think.”

The singer, who had Covid-19 this month but has since tested negative, said of his chances: “I don’t have it in the bag, but I’m pretty confident in my moves.

“I feel like it’s half in the bag. I feel like my hips are quite loose, I pick up stuff quite easy. I’m bigging myself up here! My work ethic is pretty good and I’ll put 110% in, so I feel I’ll be all right.” The show has not had an EastEnders winner since Kara Tointon in 2010, despite Emma Barton reaching last year’s final.

Could Maisie, who won the Children in Need special with

Kevin Clifton last year, take the trophy back to Albert Square?

“Hell yeah,” she laughed. “I’m going in all guns blazing. I’m in it to win it. But as long as I stay for a decent amount of time, I’ll be happy.” Maisie, who plays Tiffany Butcher, said she is always dancing. “Honestly, I can dance to anything. You can play lift music and I’ll bop,” she said. But both are worried about the slower ballroom routines. Maisie said: “I used to do ballet and hated it because everything had to be so perfect. I just wanted to dance and shake my hips.” HRVY added: “I’d like to think I look cool enough to take it in my stride... but I’ll be very nervous.” Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday on BBC One at 7.50pm.
