Tesco bid to slash family food waste
TESCO has launched a campaign to slash household waste and save families £858 a year.
It comes after a six-week trial found 53 homes cut food disposal by 76% and 88% changed storage habits to make items last.
Batch cooking, using leftovers and checking what was in the fridge before shopping saved an average £16.50 a week.
Tesco has now launched a 10- day No Time for Waste challenge, with campaigners Hubbub.
A study by the store found two thirds of Brits were more aware of food waste since lockdown.
Tesco campaigns director Kene Umeasiegbu said: “The practical ideas from this pilot can lead to long- lasting changes in household habits.”
