Alison Hammond to run This Morning for a day.. and promises a lot of fun
THIS Morning favourite Alison Hammond is to present and guestedit a special edition of the ITV daytime show for the first time – declaring it a “Covid-free” zone.
While she has hosted it before it will be the first time she has edited the show too.
And as she takes over the reins tomorrow from regular editor Martin Frizell, she is determined to fill the programme with joy – banning any depressing talk of lockdown or coronavirus.
She has insisted on hunky male models for a fashion segment by Gok Wan, and a tap-dancing troupe to open the show.
Alison will present tomorrow’s show alongside Dermot O’Leary in place of the usual Friday hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford – who have been filling in on Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s usual Monday to Thursday slots this week.
Alison said: “It will j just be a joy! There will be nothing about lockdown or
Dermot coronavirus. There’ll be a lot of recipes and food… and maybe a little bit of fashion and fun. It’s going to be great and I’m excited to be the boss!”
Martin Frizell said: “I still can’t quite believe I’ve agreed to this... But yes, on Friday our Alison Hammond will be stepping into my shoes and taking charge of This Morning. She will brief Dermot, decide on the topics and items of the day, and be in the gallery calling the shots and giving her unique style of guidance to the team.”
He added: “But you know what, I think she’ll be great – she knows the show inside out and I think viewers will be in for a real treat.”
Alison will first meet Martin to discuss d the running of the show and he will share his top tips from his five years at the helm of one of Britain’s best-loved shows.
Alison will then decide what topics she would like to cover, then she will be in the gallery directing the live show. What could possibly go wrong? Thi s Morning, ITV,
