CHERRIES HAVE HEART AND SOL

Solanke is up for the fight.. but classy Harry saves Cardiff

- BY ALEX BYWATER

1 HARRY WILSON was signed by Cardiff to provide much-needed class – and he delivered exactly that to earn a point against his former club.

On his first Cardiff start, Liverpool loanee Wilson cancelled out Dominic Solanke’s 35th-minute goal for Bournemouth.

But the Cherries were made to pay for a series of missed chances.

And they found Cardiff keeper Alex Smithies in superb form after the break when Wilson – who spent last season on loan at the Vitality

Stadium – equalised after 62 minutes.

Wilson was the home side’s main threat at the centre of their attacking trio behind striker Robert Glatzel.

Jefferson Lemar forced Smithies into action then Jack Stacey failed to convert a cross.

But Stacey made up for that after being played in by Lemar.

His cross was perfect and with the Cardiff defence passive,

Solanke had a tap in. Wilson drove a shot just wide before the break but Bournemouth were straight on the attack in the second half.

Solanke so nearly made it 2-0. Stacey was in acres of space down the right and his cross found Solanke.

Somehow Smithies got something on the strike to deflect it on to the bar.

Cardiff went straight up the other end and Wilson hit the woodwork.

A trademark free-kick from the Wales star was then flicked against the bar by Asmir Begovic.

But Wilson was not to be denied and he converted Junior Hoilett’s cross.

Stanislas was next to strike the bar with a ferocious set- piece which left the woodwork rattling – and Smithies motionless.
