Priti Patel opposed plans to build 141 affordable homes
HOME Secretary Priti Patel lobbied against the building of 141 affordable homes in her constituency.
She reportedly made representations to housing secretary Robert Jenrick twice this year to oppose plans in her Witham seat in Essex.
Mrs Patel opposed at least four housing developments, the Sunday Times reported.
They included a 200- home LOBBYING Home Sec Priti Patel scheme in Tiptree “called in” by Mr Jenrick. It included 60 affordable homes and was approved in April.
Tory ministers have pledged to “build, build, build” affordable homes. Shadow Housing Secretary Steve Reed said: “We can’t have a government which is going to rob people of control of their communities.” A spokesman for Mrs Patel said: “Priti represents constituents and supports sustainable and sensible developments.”
