Cop’s widow to press Patel for ‘life’ law
THE widow of tragic policeman Andrew Harper will meet the Home Secretary today to press for a new law in his memory.
Lissie Harper will have talks in Westminster with Priti Patel, who said at the Tory conference she would “ensure anyone who kills an emergency worker gets the sentence they deserve”.
Andrew, 28, was fatally dragged behind a car after being called to a burglary in Berkshire last year.
Three teens were jailed for manslaughter but not given life. Harper’s Law would see killers of emergency workers get life.
Speaking of meeting Mrs Patel and Justice Secretary Robert Buckland QC, Mrs Harper, 29, said: “I will be insistent of the importance of haste as well as the accuracy of the legislation.”
