Mirror Sport columnist Robbie Savage has started an online petition, calling on the Government to allow youth sports to continue during November. It is backed by Tory MP, Damian Collins (above), the former DCMS committee chair.

Savage said: “The Government is keeping schools open during the proposed lockdown from November 5 to December 2, and we would ask that they also allow structured and supervised youth teams sports to continue as well.”

England Golf boss Jeremy Tomlinson has challenged the Government to reverse its decision to close courses.

Chief executive officer Tomlinson believes Prime Minister Boris is Johnson (right) is wrong to ban the sport because he feels it can still till be played safely.

Tomlinson has written to all golfers, pleading with them to sign the national petition demanding courses remain exempt from closing this month.

He said: “At no point was England Golf consulted about this decision.”
