DAN GETS WRIGHT FIT

- NON-LEAGUE ROUND-UP

TORQUAY striker Danny Wright says he is reaping the rewards of his lockdown fitness regime.

The former Solihull Moors veteran, 36, struck a hat-trick in the Gulls’ 5-0 win at Hartlepool that moved Gary Johnson’s side five points clear at the top of the National League.

Wright said: “We have worked hard in pre-season, even in the lockdown.

“So I managed to stay sharp and ready for when something came along and it paid off.

“It is a big statement, sitting top of the league, but it’s still early days and there are plenty more games to come like that I am sure.”

Ben House struck twice in Eastleigh’s 2-1 win at Bromley to lift Ben Strevens’ side up to fifth while Sam Barratt’s hat-trick secured fourthplaced Maidenhead’s 3-1 victory over Solihull Moors.

Tom Whelan hit the winner as Weymouth came from behind at secondplaced Stockport to claim a 2-1 win.
