IVAN: I CAN BEE A LOT BETTER! Toney not satisfied with nine goals so far

- BY IAN BAKER RICO HENRY (BRENTFORD)

IVAN TONEY is top of the Championship scoring charts – but the Brentford striker admits he has had sleepless nights over the chances he has missed.

The ex-Peterborough hitman has scored nine times in nine league games in a sensational start to his new life with the Bees.

The goals have all come in Toney’s last seven appearances, including a simple tap-in during g Saturday’s easy win over Luton.

But the £ 10 million n man reckons he should have had 15 goals so far this term.

Toney, 24, said: “Nine goals oals isn’t too bad but as a striker er I’m always thinking I can n get more.

“I’m always thinking about the chances I’ve missed.

‘ You can’t be greedy but I feel like I should have around 15 goals.

“The goals I miss drive ve me on, 100 per cent.

“I keep going back to the one-on-one at Huddersfield. I think I missed two that day and after that I didn’t sleep for a week until the next game.

“It just drives you on to score in the next game and take every chance that comes my way.

“I just want to do well, make the players around me even better and I want to make a difference to how I am.”

Brentford have had an indifferent start but this performance is bound to send a message to the rest of the Championship.

They were 2-0 up after just 29 minutes after Rico Henry’s fine finish and Toney’s tap-in after a flowing move before super sub

Marcus Forss scored with his first touch 14 minutes from the end.

Thomas Frank’s side next take on Swansea, whom they beat in the play-off semi-finals in July, tomorrow as the games come thick and fast.

Toney said: “Some players complain about having so many goals in a short space of time.

“But as a striker you love it because it gives you a bigger chance of getting more goals under your belt.”

Luton’s players are starting to look fatigued and Jones is upset he is not allowed to bring on five subs.

He said: “It’s a crazy schedule. Only having three subs might not meanm mean much to some but we’re at our maximum. ma

“It should sh be a logical decision – it do doesn’t favour anyone.”
