BARBET’S FIRST TO THE BALL

- BY NICK SZCZEPANIK

THE whole QPR team mobbed sub Dominic Ball following his spectacular injury-time winner.

But no-one congratulated him (above) more warmly than Yoann Barbet.

The French defender had given away the penalty that sparked Cardiff’s comeback from a 2-0 half-time deficit, Joe Ralls converting the spot-kick early in the second half before adding a second with five minutes to go.

And Barbet was relieved his error had not cost his side two points after strikes from Ilias Chair and Todd Kane had put them in control at the break.

“I think we had an incredible first half,” Barbet said. “We deserved the lead and we could have had one or two more goals.

“I said at half-time: ‘Boys, just keep doing the same and the next goal is going to change the game,’ – and then I gave the penalty away! So I felt guilty and it was a tough one to take for me. But, thank God, Dom came on and scored a goal like that.”

Cardiff boss Neil Harris hinted at team changes for the home game with Barnsley tomorrow. “We hope to have more attacking players available,” he said. “It was great to see Lee Tomlin get 28 minutes of football today. We want Harry Wilson back as soon as possible. I’ve come here to be successful and win games of football. If my players don’t want to do that then they don’t play. It’s as simple as that.”
